FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What do you charge for your services?
A: Please inquire directly for information about rates.

Q: Do you accept insurance or Medicare?
A: New Haven Geriatric Psychiatry does not accept or process claims to
Medicare or other insurance. Dr. Kang is out-of-network for all insurance, and not a Medicare provider. For Medicare beneficiaries, this means that claims to Medicare or Medigap insurance can neither be made by patients nor submitted by Dr. Kang on patients' behalf. All services are provided under private contract only.

Q: Will Medicare still cover the cost of medications, lab tests, or any referral
made to other healthcare providers?
A: Yes, Medicare will cover Part D drugs, lab tests, and any referrals that are
made, provided those providers accept Medicare.

Q: How do I submit an out-of-network claim for your services?
A: A statement can be provided to anyone wishing to submit their own claim to their insurance for out-of-network services.

Q: How far do you travel for home visits?
A: Patients can potentially be seen for initial and follow up evaluations at
home anywhere in the state. There is, however, an associated travel fee for all home visits in addition to the standard hourly rate for clinical services.
Q: What is the travel fee associated with home visits?
A: The maximum travel fee associated with home visits is calculated by distance from the office location in northeast Seattle, round trip travel time, and based on the standard hourly rate for clinical services.
Every effort will be made to avoid peak traffic times and to schedule multiple home visits to a given area on the same day. When this is possible, the travel fee will be discounted by dividing the total travel time by the number of visits in the area.
Please inquire directly to confirm the exact maximum fee associated with
travel to your home.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Payments can be made using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express,
FSA or HSA cards through your SimplePractice patient portal. Cash and
personal checks are also accepted.

Q: When is payment due?
A: Payment is due at time of service, unless another arrangement is made.

Q: What is your policy around cancellations and rescheduling, being late for
appointments?
A: When you make an appointment, it is time that is reserved exclusively for you. Because of this, giving as much lead time as possible is appreciated
should you need to cancel or change your appointment time.
Once accepted into the clinic, you will be able to schedule and reschedule your appointments at any time 24 hours (excluding weekend) before your originally scheduled time. Appointments can be changed by contacting us directly. The full rate for the allotted time will apply, however, if late for your appointment start, or cancelling/rescheduling office or virtual visits less than 24 hours (excluding weekends), cancelling/rescheduling home visits less than 7 days of the originally scheduled time. Fees can be waived on a case-by-case basis.
